Fender Jaco Pastorius Fretless Jazz Bass Guitar – 3-Color Sunburst

Description

The Fender Jaco Pastorius Fretless Jazz Bass guitar, paying homage to the visionary artist who revolutionized bass playing. Now you can experience the special connection Jaco shared with his well-worn Jazz Bass. Fender has painstakingly recreated every detail of Jaco’s fretless companion, from the comfortable alder body and fast-playing rosewood fretboard to the vintage Jazz Bass single-coil pickups that produce the warm, fat tone Jaco was known for. The C-shaped neck provides a familiar feel for any bassist. With 20 fretline markers, you’ll always know where your fingers are on the fretboard. This special tribute model even features an authentic replica of Jaco’s neck plate. For bassists who aspire to follow in Jaco’s footsteps, there is no better place to start than with his own iconic instrument.

Fretless Rosewood Fingerboard Glides Under Your Fingers

The rosewood fingerboard allows your fingers to slide seamlessly along the neck, enabling the speed and articulation that defined Jaco’s playing. The absence of frets produces a smooth, singing sustain perfect for emulating Jaco’s distinct tone. With practice, you’ll be performing the same lightning-fast runs and harmonic techniques that made Jaco a legend.

Vintage-Style Jazz Bass Pickups Deliver Iconic Tone

The two single-coil Jazz Bass pickups are responsible for the warm, punchy tone that helped define Jaco’s sound. Roll off the treble and crank the bass for a deep, dubby tone or turn up the treble and midrange for a funkier slap sound. The tonal possibilities are endless with this versatile pickup configuration.

Alder Body and C-Shaped Neck Provide All-Day Comfort

The alder body is contoured for maximum comfort during long practice or performance sessions. At only 1-5/8″ thick, this lightweight bass is ideal for players of all sizes. The fast-playing C-shaped neck profile will feel familiar to any bassist.

Special Touches Honor a Legend

Authentic touches like the Jaco tribute neck plate and pickguard mounting holes pay homage to the “Bass of Doom” and the artist who made it famous. With this fretless Fender Jazz Bass, you’ll be well on your way to developing the skills and tone that influenced generations of bass players.
