The DW Performance Series 5-piece shell pack provides you with high-quality, handcrafted drums for creating inspiring music. Constructed from 100% North American maple, the shells produce a warm, resonant tone with a punchy attack. The HVX grain orientation and 45- and 60-degree bearing edges generate a balanced, versatile sound suitable for live shows and studio work.
Premium, All-Maple Shells
The Performance Series shells are made from eight plies of hand-selected, hard rock maple for the toms and bass drum and ten plies for the snare. This premium wood is renowned for its musicality, projection and broad tonal range. The interlocking wood grain provides strength and resonance. From a whisper to a roar, these shells accommodate any dynamic level or genre with ease.
Quarter-Turn Turret Lugs
The Performance Series drums feature DW’s iconic turret lugs, which provide an open, resonant tuning system. The lugs’ quarter-turn design makes head changes and tuning adjustments quick and easy. Their low mass allows the shells to vibrate freely, producing maximum resonance and projection. The turret lugs are as iconic to DW drums as the company’s distinctive badge.
Matched Hoops and Claw Hooks
The bass drum comes equipped with graduated counter hoops and claw hooks made from the same premium maple as the shells. The hoops enhance shell resonance while providing solid rimshots and cross sticking. The claw hooks attach securely to the hoops but have a low enough mass to not dampen sustain or projection. Together, the hoops and claws maximize the bass drum’s acoustic properties.
Suspended Tom Mounts
The Performance Series toms attach to the bass drum via DW’s Suspended Tom Mounts (STM) system. The STMs isolate each drum, allowing maximum resonance from all components. The toms sing with sustain and cut through with power. The mount design also makes setting up and breaking down the kit quick and efficient for gigging drummers on the move.
