Gibson Dealer Select Hummingbird Bearclaw Acoustic-Electric Guitar – Sky Blue

Description

The Gibson Dealer Select Hummingbird Bearclaw acoustic-electric guitar is a limited-run Custom Shop build created for players and collectors who value rare materials, refined tone, and visual distinction. Produced in small batches through Gibson?s Dealer Select program, this square-shoulder dreadnought pairs a hand-selected bearclaw Sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides, a short 24.75″ scale length, and a comfortable 1.725″ nut width. Finished in an exclusive Gloss Blue Sky and equipped with rosewood fingerboard and bridge, a classic Hummingbird tortoise pickguard, and LR Baggs Element VTC electronics, this model delivers unmistakable Hummingbird character with boutique-level appointments not found in standard production guitars.

Bearclaw Sitka Spruce and Mahogany Shape a Distinctive Voice

Bearclaw Sitka spruce is prized for more than its striking appearance. This naturally occurring figure appears in a small percentage of spruce trees and is often hand-selected by builders for its stiffness and responsiveness. On this Hummingbird, the bearclaw top adds clear note definition, strong projection, and a lively response when you dig in dynamically. Solid mahogany back and sides round out the sound with warmth and midrange focus, creating a balanced acoustic voice that records well and carries confidently in live settings.

Short Scale Feel Enhances Comfort and Expression

The short 24.75″ scale length gives the Hummingbird Bearclaw a relaxed string feel that supports expressive dynamics, easier fretting, and long playing sessions without fatigue. Combined with the mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard, the setup encourages nuanced phrasing and controlled attack, making this guitar especially appealing to songwriters and performers who rely on touch and feel as much as volume.

LR Baggs Element VTC Provides Stage-Ready Amplification

The LR Baggs Element VTC system translates the guitar?s acoustic character into a clear, dependable amplified signal. The undersaddle pickup preserves string-to-string balance, while discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls allow quick adjustments without breaking focus. This electronics setup keeps the instrument?s natural voice intact, whether you?re plugging into a PA, recording direct, or playing amplified acoustic sets.

Dealer Select Details Elevate Craftsmanship and Collectability

Mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays, a belly-up rosewood bridge, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and nickel hardware reflect classic Hummingbird appointments executed at a Custom Shop level. The exclusive Gloss Blue Sky finish and limited-run nature of this model add to its collectability, while the included Gibson hardshell case protects an instrument built for both serious performance and long-term value.
