The Ibanez Pat Metheny PM3C Signature electric guitar lets you explore smooth jazz tones with its resonant construction and versatile electronics. Designed in collaboration with legendary jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, this signature model has a spruce top, and maple back and sides, that produce balanced acoustic resonance and crisp attack. Its slim 3-piece maple, nyatoh neck and ebony fingerboard feel familiar under your fingers, facilitating melodic runs and chord voicings. The PM Special single-coil pickup embraces Pat’s signature warm, balanced tone that’s perfect for jazz improvisation and accompaniment. With premium touches like an ebony bridge, tailpiece and fingerboard, this guitar gives discerning players an instrument worthy of its namesake.

Resonant Body Enriches Your Playing

The spruce top and maple back and sides of the PM3C generate impressive acoustic resonance, enriching the nuance and dynamics of your technique. Spruce’s light, stiff properties produce bright, focused tones that carry in both small and large spaces. Maple provides midrange warmth and crisp highs. Together, these woods create an open, balanced sound with chimey highs, tight lows and lush harmonic overtones. The body’s hollow construction further amplifies resonance for a full, expressive voice.

Slim Maple Neck Inspires Fluid Playing

The PM3C’s 3-piece maple and nyatoh neck has an oval profile that feels familiar in your hands, inspiring fluid jazz runs and rich chord voicings. Its slim depth conforms comfortably to your palm, while the oval shape rolls smoothly under your fingers. Premium woods provide stability and midrange warmth. Medium frets spaced at the 2nd and 12th frets give your fingers room to roam. An ebony fingerboard adds tight lows and crisp highs. Overall, the neck design makes this guitar feel like an extension of your hands.

PM Special Pickup Captures Signature Tone

The heart of the PM3C’s tone is its PM Special single-coil pickup. Carefully designed to Pat Metheny’s specifications, this pickup produces the balanced, articulate voice he’s known for. Its alnico magnets and custom windings generate a warm midrange, tight lows and chimey highs for jazz chord melodies, walking basslines and single-note runs. Roll off the tone for a rounder voice or open it up for more cut. Either way, the pickup responds dynamically to capture the nuance of your playing.
