Ernie Ball Music Man 30th Anniversary Axis Electric Guitar – Translucent Gold Quilt

Description

For three decades, the Axis has stood as a benchmark for precision, playability and unmistakable tone?an instrument that has quietly earned its place among the most respected designs in modern electric guitar history. The Ernie Ball Music Man 30th Anniversary Axis celebrates that legacy with a limited release that returns to the model?s 1996 origins, pairing hand-stained quilt maple tops with vibrant translucent finishes that showcase the depth and character of each instrument. Beneath the surface, the core elements remain intact: a resonant basswood body, a figured maple neck carved to the original asymmetrical profile for a fast, natural feel and custom DiMarzio humbuckers that deliver a clear, dynamic voice. A double-locking tremolo provides expressive control with reliable stability, while color-matched accents and limited production numbers elevate this anniversary Axis release beyond a traditional reissue.

Quilted Maple Top and Tantalizing Translucent Finishes

The 30th Anniversary Axis features a stunning bookmatched quilt maple top finished in translucent colors that highlight the natural figuring of the wood. Each top is hand-stained to enhance depth and contrast, giving every instrument a distinct visual character. The basswood body provides a balanced tonal foundation, while the black, lightly sparkled back adds a subtle visual accent that complements the top without overpowering it. Together, these elements create a finish that is both bold and refined while remaining true to the unmistakable Axis aesthetic.

Custom DiMarzio Pickups for the Signature Axis Voice

At the heart of the Axis sound are custom-wound DiMarzio humbuckers, a defining element of the instrument?s voice. Known for their balance of output, clarity and harmonic detail, they deliver tones that cut with precision while remaining smooth and responsive under gain. The streamlined control layout?a single volume knob and three-way pickup selector?keeps operation immediate and player-focused, allowing seamless transitions between tones. This straightforward design prioritizes feel and interaction, making the pickups an essential link between your hands and the unmistakable Axis character.

Asymmetrical Maple Neck for Fast, Comfortable Playability

The figured maple neck is carved to the Axis? original asymmetrical profile, offering a natural, ergonomic feel that adapts to the player?s hand. Paired with a matching maple fingerboard and finished with a gunstock oil and hand-rubbed wax blend, it delivers a smooth, fast-playing surface without the stickiness of gloss finishes. Stainless steel frets provide long-term durability and consistent feel, while glow-in-the-dark side dots improve visibility in low-light environments. The result is a neck that feels broken-in and responsive from the first note.

Double-Locking Tremolo for Stability and Expressive Control

The Music Man double-locking tremolo is a defining component of the Axis design, delivering smooth pitch changes while maintaining excellent tuning stability. Paired with a locking nut and Schaller tuning machines, it creates a system that remains consistent under aggressive playing and repeated use. Fine-tuners allow precise adjustments once locked, ensuring accuracy without sacrificing feel. Whether applying subtle vibrato or more expressive dive techniques, the system responds fluidly and reliably.
